2016-12-05 18:30 | Naregatsi Art Institute
Naregatsi Art Institute hosted a concert on the occasion of the International Day of People with Disabilities. The concert was organized due to the joint efforts of the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese and Naregatsi Art Institute.
The event featured the children with special needs from Yerevan special boarding schools and centers of child care (8 schools).
The evening was opened with the Lord's Prayer presented by the priest and the children. It was followed by a concert.
-The love for children has brought us together today. Children with disabilities are in the focus of our attention. The church has a spiritual impact on the children, but we are not satisfied with it, we are looking for new ways to ensure their progress in life ... We must instill in them the courage to enter into life and the ability to get rid of depression. It is also important to be able to demonstrate the right attitude towards children with disabilities, considering them as full members of society ..., - said Father Zgon Abrahamyan, the pastor of Erebuni community of the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese…
Then Fr. Grigor Hovhannisyan, pastor of Argavand St.Sargis Church of the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese, held a blessing ceremony of the crosses, after which the blessed crosses were handed to the children participating in the event.
Many of the children were on stage for the first time. There were young men who had already participated in international festivals performing on the best stages, for example, the members of the Pantomime Studio "We" of the deaf community of the Araratian Patriarchal Diocese.
The concert featured the deaf children or those with hearing disorders who delivered pantomime and sang in sign language. Those with weak vision or blind children danced, played the guitar and sang. Physically or mentally impaired children displayed marionette performance, as well as there were other performances during the event. The hand-made works of the children from those schools were showcased in the hall during the event.
- NAI has always paid special attention to people with disabilities, talented kids, and I am confident that these measures will be continuous, - concluded the concert with these words Naregatsi Art Institute Artistic Director Lusine Azaryan.
