Palm Sunday in Naregatsi
2019-04-14 15:30 | Naregatsi Art Institute
The students of the Naregatsi Art Institute Painting Class celebrated Palm Sunday with great enthusiasm. The children with the help of teacher Hasmik Gasparyan made wreaths and crosses of willow branches.
The Armenian Apostolic Church on the last Sunday of Lent celebrates the Christian holiday of Palm Sunday, or Tsakhkazard (decorated with flowers). The holiday is celebrated in remembrance of Christ’s triumphal entry to Jerusalem.
His Holiness Garegin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians, also proclaimed this day as the day of blessing of children, because when the Lord entered the temple of Jerusalem, the children were rejoicing, shouting, "Blessed is David's son" (Matthew 21:15).
