Socio-cultural Inclusive Event at NAI

On October 5, national dance and music transformed into a language of boundless warmth and connection within the walls of the Naregatsi Art Institute. The concluding event of the “National Dance: Language of Inclusion” program, implemented by the “Women for Life” NGO, took place here, at the core of which was a simple and beautiful idea: every person, regardless of their physical and mental abilities, can be the bearer of national culture.
The program was brought to life with the support of the "UMCOR Armenia" Charitable Foundation and caring benefactors. Children and young people with autism conveyed the energy of Armenian national dances to their parents and the audience. Members of the "Haykanch" traditional dance group assisted the children with special needs in mastering the dance steps and performed alongside them. In addition to the dance performances, the children also delighted the audience with their piano playing.
According to Tirun Gharibjanyan, President of the "Women for Life" NGO, such initiatives contribute to the socialization and emotional integration of children, as well as raise awareness of inclusiveness in society.
"While writing the program, I felt that the best place to implement it was the Naregatsi Art Institute, because everything here speaks of national culture. I was confident in my heart that we would not be rejected. Our children were accepted here without stereotypes and without preconditions. We thank you for this opportunity, because our children deserved to represent culture in this environment."
At the end of the event, Nareg Hartounian, founder of the Naregatsi Art Institute, presented children with fairy tale books and kindly invited them to visit the Institute often, emphasizing that they are always welcomed with open hearts.
This was yet another opportunity to remember that inclusion is not merely a one-off event; it is an environment where differences unite rather than divide, and where, to the rhythm of national dance, every child becomes a full and natural part of cultural life.
