2018-12-12 | Naregatsi Art Institute

The album "Tagher" was released in 2018 by the Naregatsi Art Institute.
This album includes six taghs by Grigor Narekatsi and the only Sharakan (hymn), the melodies of which have been sung continuously over centuries.

This publication of the Naregatsi Art Institute is unique because six of the taghs are presented in grabar (old Armenian) and ashkharhabar (contemporary Armenian), with the exception of the Sharakan and the "Tagh for the Holy Cross" (Havik).

The album also includes sheet music of the taghs and sharakan, as well as a CD with the unparalleled performances by Gevorg Hunanian and Anna Mayilyan.

The interpretation and polyphony of the songs in the "Tagher" album are by Daniel Yerazhisht.

The album is illustrated with modern solutions of medieval miniatures provided by miniature artist Lilit Vardumyan.
