Exhibition at NAI

2026-10-05 18:30 | Naregatsi Art Institute

On October 5, Naregatsi Art Institute unveiled artist Alina Sahakyan’s solo exhibition, entitled "Woven Dreams". The exhibition features a unique collection of works created using the dry felting technique.

In her opening speech at the exhibition, Tatevik Hambardzumyan, NAI Exhibitions curator and art critic, welcomed the attendees and touched upon Alina Sahakyan's works; “Needle-felting as a form of applied art finds a unique expression in the works of Alina Sahakyan. These pieces are examples of original compositions featuring a realistic blend of nature’s colors and forms, where ordinary wool fibers are transformed into art. In the artist's hands, wool transcends the boundaries of a purely functional material, evolving into a three-dimensional, tactile canvas.”

"Woven Dreams" is not only a summary of the author's journey but also an invitation to pause and rediscover the inexhaustible beauty of nature through the warmth of the fiber.

"We are often in such a rush that we fail to notice the little miracles right around us. If my works prompt someone to slow down, look, and feel for a moment, I will consider it to have achieved its goal," confessed Alina Sahakyan. "Working with wool, I realized it allows me to paint, construct, and create volume all at once. By combining fibers of different shades, it is possible to create very subtle color transitions and a surface that shifts with the light," the artist notes.

Alina Sahakyan’s creative style has been shaped by a combination of classical painting, graphic design, and photography; she received her education in Yerevan, at the Art Academy in Switzerland, and in Canada.

The exhibition will be open until October 10.
