2017-07-28 19:00 | Naregatsi Art Institute

Naregatsi Art Institute hosted a concert of spiritual and folk songs entitled "Old and New Songs".

Newborn "Knar" spiritual and folk songs group of Naregatsi Art Institute was featured in the concert. Teacher of the group is Lusine Aghajanyan who is studying at the Academic Vocal Department of Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan.

-Today is very symbolic for us. Naregatsi Art Institute’s newborn Knar Spiritual and Folk Songs Group, which has a very interesting story of formation, will be performed for the first time.

Years ago, when I was in Artsakh, my friend took me to a church where a nice voice sounded during the liturgy. At the end of the liturgy I offered Lusine Aghajanyan, who was singing and chairing the Chorus, to form a choir in Naregatsi Art Institute Shushi Center and she agreed. Now she has moved to Yerevan and has formed "Knar" spiritual and folk songs group here. Knar is the name of my little girl and my mom, who has passed away. I hope that this group will be very successful and will have many productive works…- said in his opening speech Naregatsi Art Institute Founder Nareg Hartounian.

During the evening they performed works by Komitas, M. Yekmalian, Daniel Yerazhisht, A. Babajanyan, E. Hovhannisyan, G. Gabrielyan and Kh. Avetisyan.
Accompanist: Harutyun Tagvoryan.
