On October 11th, Naregatsi Art Institute hosted the concert by the French-Armenian Band Deleyaman (from France) within the framework of the Cultural Exchange Program. The Band presented songs from their discography and new tracks from their upcoming album to be released in spring 2027.
In attendance at the concert were the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Armenia, Florian Escudié, and the Deputy Director of the French University in Armenia, Ms. Marion Hugues Andrieu.
The guests and attendees were welcomed by Nareg Hartounian, founder of the Naregatsi Art Institute. He highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering cultural dialogue and creative collaboration and spoke about the long-standing partnership between the Deleyaman Band and the Naregatsi Art Institute.
Continuing Nareg Hartounian’s speech, Aret Madilian spoke about the band’s first visit to Armenia and the concert tour undertaken in 2007. The band performed in both Armenia and Artsakh. The performance at the Shoushi branch of the Naregatsi Art Institute was of particular importance for the musicians, which, according to Aret Madilyan, was like a pilgrimage.
In 2009 and 2011, the Band Deleyaman released the albums “Fourth, Part One” and “Fourth, Part Two” with the support of the Naregatsi Art Institute, contributing to the dissemination of the band's works.
Deleyaman is a French-Armenian musical band founded in 2000 in Normandy, France, by arranger Aret Madilian, French singer Beatrice Valantin, and French-Armenian duduk player Gerard Madilian. The band's music combines diverse cultural and artistic influences, forming a unique style that is difficult to confine to a single musical genre. The band's style is characterized as simultaneously alternative, experimental, minimalist, and ethereal.
The current line-up of the band is Aret Madilian (guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion, vocals), Beatrice Valentin (vocals, keyboards), Artyom Minasyan (duduk, pku, blul), Benoit Fournier (drums), Madalina Obreja (violin), Pierre Baillon (saxophone soprano, oud, bansuri), Eric Plande (saxophone tenor), and Jean-Hugues Mauthe (bass guitar).
At the end of the concert, Nareg Hartounian presented gifts to all the band members and bestowed the title of "Ambassador of Armenian Culture" upon Aret Madilian, gifting him an Armenian “khachkar” (cross-stone). This title is awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to representing Armenian culture to the world.
